The violin pictured is the actual violin you will receive!
At The Farm, we take actual pictures of each instrument and make sure they are fully set-up and ready to play before we ship them. Each instrument goes through a multi-point inspection, followed by a set-up process by our in-house tech staff. We then photograph each instrument with high-quality equipment in our on-site photography studio. We know that details like wood grain and color finishes can vary, so we want you to be able to see, to the best of our ability, exactly what you will be receiving.
This process takes over an hour for each instrument - from inspection to pictures. We care about the instrument we put into your hands! Rest assured your violin was not just plucked off of a shelf and drop-shipped to you from a warehouse without care.
Just in on trade!
This violin came to us from a long-time player who said that it had been passed down to her from her great grandmother. In order to verify the make, age and quality of this fine instrument, we had it examined by Stearns Violins, Inc., who provided us with an official appraisal - pictured and included with the violin.
The appraisal verified that Schweitzer stamped violin is a German factory produced violin from the early 1900's and follows the common Steiner model and was stamped Schweitzer for branding purposes.
The top is constructed of two pieces of quartersawn, medium grained Spruce, broadening somewhat in the flanks. Flame quartersawn Maple was used for the two-piece back with similar material used for upper the rib bouts, making this a gorgeous instrument. The remaining rib bouts and scroll are of plain Maple. It was also determined to be in overall "Good" condition, and that there have been repaired top cracks.
Included with this violin is also the pictured bow and hard case.
This is a used violin and does show some signs of slight use, but has been fully tested and functions as expected. Please take a moment to review our pictures, as they accurately portray the true condition of the violin.
