Ibanez’s classic Tube Screamer is one of the most loved overdrives of all time, and it just got that much better with a little help from one of the World's most revered pedal builders, Analog Man!
It has the same core overdrive circuit as a TS9, but Analog Man has replaced the stock JRC4558 (or similar) op-amp in the TS9 with a JRC4558D chip, which is often considered a higher-quality version of the 4558. The "D" version of the JRC4558 is known for offering a smoother, more refined tone compared to the regular 4558.
Analog Man’s mod turns the TS9 into a more transparent, dynamic, and versatile overdrive, maintaining the classic Tube Screamer character but improving clarity, headroom, and control over the tone and gain. It’s a highly regarded mod by players who want a premium, more polished version of the iconic pedal.
